You usually apply for a Spanish student visa at the consulate or visa application centre that covers your country or region of residence, often at an appointment booked weeks in advance. Consulates typically ask students for a certificate confirming full private medical cover in Spain, with no copayments, valid for the length of the stay you are requesting.

It also helps to know which side of the length thresholds your course falls on.
